September 5, 2008 Homework: Manipulated Imagery in pop culture
This image is completely made up, but funny in that he most likely put his big brown nose in some crack. The image is well composed in that it looks real.
I am an emerging photographer and graduate student of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. I am interested in the objectification of the idiosyncrasies of Western culture through parody, in fashion photography with editorial storytelling. The people within my work are portrayed in elaborately staged environments that forcibly objectify the dysfunctional beauty within twenty-first century pop culture. The photographs subject the viewer to be the voyeur of the people within the scenes. The environment is just as imperative as the person within the photograph because it symbolizes these idiosyncrasies.
